Die Landeskonferenz Bayern is pleased to announce that it is supporting The STEM Gender Equality Congress (SGEC) in a poster presentation by its chair Dr. Margit Weber from Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and vice chair, Prof. Dr. Marie Christine Dabauvalle, Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. Organised by Science Impact Ltd, the provider of dissemination and knowledge transfer services for research, academia and industry, SGEC takes place at the Seminaris Campus Hotel in Berlin on 8-9 June 2017.
Gender equality is one of the most significant issues facing academia and business today and as one of the organizations taking the lead in gender equality in Bavaria will be supporting SGEC to continue to empasise its’ commitment to gender equality and to share best practice with other institutes and stakeholders.
The SGEC 2017 program is filled with thought-provoking addresses, high-level panel discussions and case studies along with informative poster sessions and exhibitions and important policy developments.
Some of the high profile figures already confirmed to speak at the Congress are Dr. Brigitte Mühlenbruch, President, European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS), Dr. Shirley Malcom, Head of Education and Human Resources Programs, AAAS and Co-chair of the Gender Advisory Board of the UN Commission on S&T for Development, Dr. Annette Schmidtmann, Head of Department for Scientific Affairs, German Research Foundation (DFG), David Ruebain, Chief Executive, Equality Challenge Unit & Athena SWAN Charter, Prof. Gloria Bonder, Director Global Network, UNESCO Chairs on Gender.
Attendees will benefit from a highly pertinent program covering a wide range of themes including; ‘Addressing unconscious bias’, ‘Promoting gender equality in Horizon 2020’, ‘Inclusion of the gender dimension in research and science’, ‘Embedding equality throughout the organisation’, ‘Gender-fair recruitment and retention strategies’ and ‘Supporting a culture of gender equality and research excellence’.
